Segmental Pressure studies helps in quantifying blood flow and assessing exact location of arterial disease. It uses the Smartdop®XT machine. It is a very valuable tool to document improvement or deterioration of the arterial diseases.
In combination with treadmill exercise testing, it estimates the severity of the arterial disease and the time taken for recovery gives an idea of the collateral supply.
The tcpO2 measuring device is used to measure the content of oxygen in the skin. When used at different levels on the leg along with different position of the limb, the values can be interpreted to predict the severity of ischemia or poor blood flow, the risk of wounds not healing, the risk of losing the limb and the level at which the amputation should be performed.
The Art-Assist device provides non-surgical method of improving blood supply to limbs in situations where either the disease is too extensive and inoperable or when patient is not fit for any intervention.
It can triple the blood flow at the tissue level and improve wound healing and relieve rest pain.
In the Arterial clinic, patients are examined and evaluated in detail to assess all aspects of the illness viz cause of the problem, identify prognosis and problems likely to come up in the future and, then decide on the best line of treatment involving medications, endovascular therapy, open surgery in various permutations and combination. Treatment is then customized for each patient for getting the best results.
